The future of movie rentals...

First was the invention of the VCR and the videocassette (sorry, BETA, you won't be discussed here). That made the movie rental industry possible. SEVERAL years later, we're all beaten down with the trip to the movie store to wander the aisles endlessly looking for that elusive movie that we don't even know the name of. Heck, we don't even know what the VHS sleeve looks like. Then we have to wait in line to check out while being tempted by candy, soft drinks, and popcorn that NONE of us even need. I hate impulse buying. And I won't even...

Energy Saving Tips for the home!

Energy Tips Air Conditioning and Heating • Make sure your attic is properly insulated and that if your home is a good fit for it, you have radiant barrier properly installed.• Raise the thermostat to 78°F in the summer and lower to 68°F in the winter. • Install proper attic ventilation to reduce heat gain in the summer and moisture in the winter. Attic heat can contribute greatly to your home not remaining cool!• Install Attic Tents on each pull down attic stair access in conditioned areas of your home such as hallways and closets. This prevents outside, unconditioned dirty...

A new "SCENE" to help homeowners go "GREEN"...

There's a new message board, or "forum" as some people call them, that is determined to help the DFW metroplex homeowner make his home and life more "green"!DFWGREENSCENE.COM is the newest board to take shape locally (actually, maybe the ONLY one) and encourage homeowners to share ideas and projects online.  The site currently has no advertising to mess with, although that most likely will change in the upcoming months, but will be limited to "Green Companies" who offer products and services to assist homeowners.  Since the site is so new, there's lots of room for would be "experts" to post...

Total Health Logic: Creating Healthier Lives!

My good friend, Duane Chance with Total Health Logic, a Shaklee Independent Distributor,  keeps telling me to get healthier.  I hear it at LEAST once a week.  Timm, get healthier!  Now I KNOW I'm not the healthiest of individuals. As a matter of fact I'd probably be hard pressed to find another male of my age and stature that's in worse shape than me...  Maybe not... ANYWAY, taking a look at his website helps me understand why.As many of you know, I have 5 children.  I'm always worried about diseases and sickness and runny noses and... well, you get...

NHL Blog: Stars - Lightning 1/19/2009

This was a tough loss. All those sidebar stories about the ex-Stars and ex-Lightning players were nice. It was nice to see Mike Smith play against the Stars and play well for the most part. Well enough to get the win. It was nice to see Jeff Halpern get kicked out of the faceoff circle. I enjoyed watching Jussi Jokinen on the penalty kill and see him create a few shorthanded chances. It was neat to see Brad Richards and Vinny Lecavalier exchange goals 20 seconds apart. But these were big points and the Stars lost them. They lost a...
1971.  The year of my birth.  That GLORIOUS year. Little 6lb 8.5oz Timm was brought into the world. April 7 to be exact.  One year and 8 days later, April 15, 1972, the Rangers played their first game EVER, losing to the Angels, 1-0.  And folks, that's as good as it gets.  Some 37 years later (how is it that I'm only 28 still) the Rangers are still embarrassing themselves, the fans, and MLB.I know, you're going to throw 1996, 1998, and 1999 in my face.  Yep those were pretty good years, but who remembers them?  So they don't count...

Timm's TOP 5 reasons NOT to buy bottled water!

Let me begin here by stating my stance on bottled water.  Yes, I'm a bottled water snob! Actually I'm a water snob in general. I never touch the stuff! Bottled or otherwise. Hand me a cold Dr. Pepper on a hot summer day and I'm just dandy. Not healthy, mind you, just dandy. But the world seems to have embraced it! It started with Perrier. Somehow, a French company convinced people it's cool to buy bottled water. Today, Evian has surpassed Perrier in sales and now it's the chic French water of choice. Why? It costs about 5 bucks a...
Believe me, as a father of 5, I well know the dilemma of what to do with the (YUK) "used diaper".  And also as the father of 2 children still in diapers at the same time (I know, "what was he thinking"), i also know that those "diaper genies" and the "diaper pail" can fill up fast, creating a whole NEW dilemma of the stench in the baby's room, and eventually the whole house.  But that's a blog for another day.  Let's address the diapers themselves first, shall we?For decades there have been only two choices in diapers. Cloth or...

Solar Screens vs. Window Tint or Film

Why Solar Screens10. Sun's energy is absorbed by the open weave design of the fabric and then dissipated through the holes in the mesh as air moves through it. 9. Blocks 90% of the visible light heat, which is responsible for 44% of the heat, gain into a home. 7. Stops 90% of the UV Rays from entering your home, which can cause fading of valuable furnishings. 6. Provides daytime privacy! blinds can be left open...
