Radiant Barrier TAX CREDITS for 2009-2010 have been INCREASED by the passing of the economic stimulus bill "The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009" on February 17, 2009.
Save with a tax credit of 30% up to $1500 for all improvements made in 2009-2010.
2-Sided foil Radiant Barrier
Go Green Solar Screen’s 2-sided foil radiant barrier is a double-sided aluminum barrier reinforced with a poly fabric scrim for tear and puncture resistance available in both perforated (breathable) and solid (vapor barrier) versions. It meets the Standard Specifications for Sheet Radiant Barriers for Building Construction Applications ASTM C1313 and State of California Title 24 Insulation Standards.
Upwards of 93% of ceiling heat gain in summer months can be attributed to heat from the attic space above caused by radiant energy transferred by the sun. The radiant heat from the sun is absorbed by roofing shingles and transferred to the roof decking below and into the attic space. Conventional insulation absorbs much of this heat and once its saturation point has been met, this heat is then transferred to the living spaces below.
When stapled to the bottom of roof rafters in an attic space, 2-sided foil radiant barrier can block 97% of the radiant heat from the roofing surface and thereby lower overall attic temperatures by almost 30 degrees bringing the attic temperature closer to the true outdoor temperature or even lower. By lowering the temperature in your attic, you can reduce the amount of heat transferred to your living spaces below by up to 50% giving you greater comfort in your home and lessening the strain your air conditioning unit.
Go Green's Radiant Barrier Spray
Go Green's Radiant Barrier spray coating is a water
based, product with a low emissivity. Our radiant
barrier is a superior replacement to foil based or
metalized plastic products. Often, Go Green radiant
barrier coating is the only method of retrofitting an
older radiant barrier as it can be safely applied in
confined areas.
Our Go Green's radiant barrier spray offers:
- Highly reflective surface with a low emissivity
- Go Green radiant barrier is permeable and therefore will not trap water and moisture
- Our radiant barrier will not jam your cellular or
antennae signals like foil products
- Our customers report 8%-12% savings in A/C system cost
- Noticeable improvement in home comfort levels
- Go Green radiant barrier will actually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of your current insulation
- A radiant barrier will increase the value of your home
What is Heatbloc Ultra and why does Go Green use it?
Heatbloc Ultra is a coating that is a safe water-based
radiant barrier spray. It has an aluminum finish with a
low emissivity or "low-e". When our Heatbloc Ultra is
applied to home building materials like plywood, OSB or
plasterboard, the materials ability to transfer the
radiant heat is typically lowered by over 81%. Our
system is classified as an IRCC (Interior Radiation
Control Coating) and qualifies to be used as a interior
radiant barrier.
How Does Go Green's Heatbloc Ultra Radiant Barrier Work?
It works by changing the emissivity level of the surface
it is applied to. What does that mean? The emissivity
level of material is that materials ability to transfer
energy in the form of radiant heat. Materials like
plywood have a 90% emissivity level and transfer a
tremendous amount of radiant heat. Go Green's radiant
barrier reduces the materials ability to transfer
radiant heat to typically less than a 19% transfer of
radiant energy.
What is a radiant barrier?
Quite simply, a radiant barrier is a surface placed in
the path of radiant heat which in turn blocks the heat
transfer. Go Green's radiant barrier spray protects your
home or office building from the transfer of radiation
(radiant heat). Radiation is the movement of heat via
waves called electromagnetic waves... or thermal
radiation. Thermal radiation is an invisible form of
light that moves through the air from a warm to cool
surface. Go Green's radiant barrier is a low emissivity
layer of protection that blocks the radiant heat from
transferring from outside the home to inside your home,
keeping your home cooler and more comfortable.
Will I need to re-apply Go Green's Heatbloc Ultra?
No. Go Green's radiant barrier will not degrade over
time like many other radiant barrier products.
Does Go Green's Heatbloc Ultra trap water in the roof or
sidewalls?
No. Our radiant barrier spray is permeable to water
which means it will not trap the water vapor. This is
extremely important for use in attic conditions.
Can you apply Go Green's radiant barrier in Vent-Skin
construction?
Yes. Our radiant barrier can be applied underneath the
outer roof skin and facing downwards toward the vent
channel. For use on sidewalls, our radiant barrier
should be used on the inside of the outer skin towards
the vent channel.
Does attic ventilation play an important role?
Yes. There are 3 sources of heat penetration:
conduction, convection, and radiation. Our radiant
barrier controls radiant heat while proper attic
ventilation will control convection heat. Proper
ventilation and a strong radiant barrier will make your
home more comfortable and add additional utility
savings.
Do Radiant Barriers help with heating costs?
Yes but not significantly. Radiant Barriers are designed
to specifically address lowering your summer cooling
costs.
What does all of this mean?
Go Green can help you save money on your summer cooling
bills with an efficient radiant barrier system!
